The City of Calistoga is located 80 miles North of San Francisco in the scenic Napa Valley. It is found at the foot of Mt. St. Helena, which rises over 4300 feet above the city. Calistoga, population 5,000, is a popular destination for visitors to the heart of the Wine Country and is best known for its geothermal hot springs, mineral water, home to California's

Old Faithful Geyser. It is also the home of the Napa County Fairgrounds.

Calistoga has maintained its small town ambiance, while accommodating many tourists each year. A world-renown destination of healing and renewal, Calistoga first boomed in the late 1800’s. Railroads brought visitors by the thousands to breath the healthful air and “take to the waters” in the area’s natural hot springs. Calistoga today remains a center of wellness, yet also thrills visitors as a vibrant hub of relaxed elegance and Wine Country flavor. Friendly and laid-back -- yet plentiful in its offerings of quality restaurants and diverse boutique shops, Calistoga is a favorite among families in the wine country.

In 2001, the National Trust selected Calistoga for Historic Preservation as one of twelve Distinctive Destinations. With a current population of 5,190 (2000 Census), Calistoga retains its charm with a downtown much as it was when spa visitors arrived by train. Located 75 miles North of San Francisco, Calistoga is easily reached from anywhere in the greater Bay Area and is a quick drive from the Sacramento area.
